Statement -
and I hope to see you is a presentation of works by Juan-Manuel Pinzon and Harrison Wayne. Connected by a propensity for magnifying the significance of unexpected, forceful encounters, the two artists weave memories and fantasies into amalgamations of symbols and material that reference intimate, personal narratives.
About the Artists -
Juan-Manuel Pinzon (he/him) is an artist based in New York City. Juan studied economics at Oberlin College (’18), completed the 9-month program at the Krenov School of Fine Woodworking (’19) and earned his MFA in Craft/Material Studies at Virginia Commonwealth University (‘22). He is a Socrates Sculpture Park Fellow 2024-25 and has attended residencies at Vermont Studio Center in Johnson, VT, The Ellis Beauregard Foundation in Rockland, ME, and Stove Works in Chattanooga, TN. He has exhibited work across the country, most recently at Socrates Sculpture Park, Long Island City, NY; Pascall Hall, Rockport, ME; and Cierah Gallery in New York, NY.
Harrison Wayne is an artist born and raised in Georgia. After receiving his Bachelor’s in chemistry from Georgia State University in 2020, Harrison continued his work as an industrial research chemist at a local chemical manufacturing plant. Harrison’s work has been exhibited in Georgia at spaces including the Swan Coach House Gallery, Whitespace Gallery, the Ernest G. Welch School of Art and Design Gallery, Eso Tilin Projects, Chastain Art Gallery, and Echo Contemporary Art. Nationally, Harrison’s work has been exhibited with Stove Works and Tangerine Gallery in Tennessee, Heiress Gallery in Florida, Art Fields in South Carolina, Fresh Eye Gallery and Waiting Room Art in Minneapolis, and at the Mountain View Cemetery in Los Angeles, California. Harrison was the recipient of a residency from Stove Works in the Spring of 2024.
