In the Studio: Assignments
We’ve started hosting weekly zoom meetings on Fridays with Artists that will be participating in future programming. Check our calendar if you would like to attend the Studio Visit with Mike, Josiah, and Artist host.
Following each visit, Josiah will create a prompt that responds to a particular concept explored during the visit. The prompts will be posted the Friday after the visits. And, if you would like us to feature your response, please email it to friends@stoveworks.org.

LTLYM (and Friends) Assignments:
In an effort to remain connected in an environment where the healthiest and safest action we take towards each other is to keep our distance, we’re calling forth the internet of times past. Back in the mid-aughts, Miranda July created a website that posted amusing, endearing, and occasionally heart-string-pulling assignments for us all to complete: Learning to Love You More (LTLYM). Sadly, the site ceased operating in 2009.
Below is a list of Assignments made up of two parts Thoughts and Actions. “Thoughts” are a collection of quotes that tie into the corresponding “Actions”. The intention is that you will use the “thoughts” as a point of reflection as you execute the “actions” portion each assignments. There is no time frame for completion (unless specified in the Assignment) and no particular order of completion. Take your time.
After you complete the assignment, please send your documentation to friends@stoveworks.org and we’ll post it with the assignment!

A THought:
"The very last thing we need right now is a mindset of mutual distancing… We actually need to be thinking in the exact opposite way. Every hand that we don’t shake must become a phone call that we place. Every embrace that we avoid must become a verbal expression of warmth and concern. Every inch and every foot that we physically place between ourselves and another must become a thought as to how we might help that other, should the need arise."
-Rabbi Yosef Kanefsky, in Forward
