Artist’s Bio

Jules Jackson is a Chattanooga-based painter whose work explores the formation of self that begins before birth, and continues after death. Through self-portraiture, Jules processes the family lineage that made him who he is - and explores potential futures of what could happen in his lifetime.

In May 2023, Jules graduated from the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga with a BFA in Painting and Drawing and a BS in Communication. Jules works as the Programs Coordinator at ArtsBuild, a non-profit supporting the arts in Hamilton County.

His work was exhibited most recently in the solo exhibitions You Are Jules at Stove Works in Chattanooga, and Good Luck Jules at Coop Gallery in Nashville.

Curator’s Bio

Kate Greenwell is a graduate of the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga. She earned her Bachelor of Fine Arts in Painting and Drawing in 2024. She is currently in fellowship at Stove Works gallery in Chattanooga, Tennessee, the print fellow at The Open Press Cha and is a journalist for the online artist forum Mineral House Media. Kate is the founder of ‘above the water fountain’ a gallery space in Chattanooga, TN dedicated to showing young and emerging artists
