Is queer art always about queer longing? Some queer art is homoerotic, with naked bodies and lustful glances. But artists throughout history have imagined queer worlds, histories, and futures beyond and despite heteronormativity. Across time and across cultures, queer art compels us to think otherwise.
Bart Pushaw (they/he) is Assistant Professor of Art History at UTC. They received their PhD at the University of Maryland and was a postdoc at the University of Copenhagen, and currently live in Chattanooga, TN.
