Join interdisciplinary artist Meredith Drum for a workshop that leads participants through the process of creating a creative personal virtual space to share with friends and family. Drum’s augmented reality project Monument Public Address System is currently part of the Teachable Moment exhibition at Stove Works. Her projects center around the cultivation of care for others, particularly the vulnerable, especially non-human life. Using Mozilla Hubs and Spoke, participants will learn how to find, manipulate and place 3D models in order to create a natural and/or built landscape and to import sounds, images, and videos to enrich the space.
Participants will need a computer, a good internet connection, and a Mozilla Spoke account, and Drum will guide everyone through the process of signing up for a Spoke account during the workshop, or participants can do this ahead of time here: https://hubs.mozilla.com/spoke/
The workshop will also take a look at the OpenSource 3D modeling software Blender. Use of Blender during the workshop is optional, but please feel free to download Blender beforehand here: https://www.blender.org/
